Fireworks Safety Tips For Pets

Fireworks are a great way to celebrate the 4th of July for humans but to our pets it can be quite scary with all the loud noises. Be prepared to help your dog and cat stay safe with a minimum amount of stress during the Cass Lake Fireworks Independence Day Celebration.  The fireworks this year take place on Friday, July 5th, at dusk.

Did you know the shelters say July 5th and July 6th are the busiest day of the year?

  1. Leave your pet at home if you are attending fireworks or events
  2. Keep your pet in the house (Make sure doggie door is closed)
  3. Provide a place to hide (crate, closet, under the bed)
  4. Have the TV or radio on to drown out the noise
  5. Make the room dark with the blinds drawn
  6. Be sure your pet is wearing identification tags and all information is up to date
  7. Have a current full bodied picture of your pet ready in case they do run away
  8. Never use personal fireworks around pets
  9. Fireworks are toxic to pets – keep them away
  10. Hire a “Professional Pet Sitter” to care for your pets during celebrations. Certified Pet Professionals are trained to care for pets in stressful situations and are Pet First Aid Certified.
